Pick-up/ Drop-Off

DROPPING OFF AND PICKING UP STUDENTS

*PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE INTO THE PARKING LOTS TO DROP OFF STUDENTS.  This includes the parking lot on Albert and the back of the school. This is a safety issue for students, parents, and Wilson Middle School staff members.

BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL: Students should be dropped off in front of the school on Maple St. and enter through Gate #1. For safety reasons, do not use the alley area at the back of the school entrance to disembark your students. Parents can drop off students on the corner of Albert St. and Maple St. and/or Maple St. and Orange Ave. so those students can use the crosswalk.

DURING THE INSTRUCTIONAL DAY:   Utilize the Maple Street entrance only to pick up and drop off your students from 8:00 AM - 2:55 PM.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  The Exeter Police Department will be issuing traffic citations for violations in school zones. Examples of these violations include but are not limited to:

  • Exceeding the 25 MPH speed limit
  • Dropping off or picking up students in areas marked RED
  • Parking in Handicapped parking places
  • Parking in Bus Loading Zones
  • Running stop signs
  • Not stopping for pedestrians in crosswalks
  • Double parking

BICYCLES, SCOOTERS, AND SKATEBOARDS

Students are welcome to ride their bicycles, scooters, and skateboards to and from school.  For safety reasons, however, bicycles, scooters, and skateboards may not be ridden on school grounds, on school sidewalks, in and around parking lots, in or by the bus area.

The school will not assume responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged bicycles, scooters, and skateboards. However, to assist students with their security, the school provides an enclosed area for bicycle, scooter, and skateboard storage.

Students are encouraged to bring locks to school so their bicycles, scooters, and skateboards can be locked up in the fenced area.  Students failing to comply with our bicycle, scooter, and skateboard rules may lose their privilege to bring their bicycle, scooter, or skateboard on campus.

Motorized biked scooters are not allowed on the school campus, as per police department guidelines.

SUPERVISION

Students shall be under the supervision of the school authorities from the time they leave home in the morning until they return to their homes in the afternoon.  Students shall be under the school's supervision at all school-sponsored functions such as athletic contests, class parties, field trips, school dances, etc.  Students are asked to arrive at Wilson Middle School no earlier than 7:30 A.M.

Once students have entered the school grounds, they may NOT leave campus for any reason during the school day without the written permission of a parent or guardian, following these procedures:
