Exeter Unified School District Parents and Guardians,

Exeter Unified School District (EUSD) is monitoring the ongoing coverage of the 2019 novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), and is prepared to respond appropriately. The Tulare County Health Department continues to report that there are no confirmed cases of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Tulare County. A Fresno County school district has reported a temporary closure of some of their schools for deep cleaning processes. We are aware that there is a lot of coverage by media and want to inform you that to our knowledge, no EUSD students or staff members have the virus or are being tested at this time. We want our parents, staff, and students to know that should the need for additional action arise, EUSD will work together with the Tulare County Public Health Communicable Disease Department to assess and determine appropriate steps.
Recognizing parental and staff interest in school actions, we would like to share the following information with you about steps EUSD is taking regarding COVID-19:
Are we cancelling activities?
EUSD has canceled all activities outside of Tulare County until April 6, 2020 as a preventative measure.
Will EUSD cancel classes?
Public Health Department officials currently do not recommend the cancellation of classes as an effective action in this situation. We have increased staff to ensure frequent cleaning and disinfection of classrooms and targeted areas. We have also implemented increased handwashing and use of hand sanitizers in classrooms and common areas by students and staff. We will continue to follow the best practices from Tulare County Health Department.
EUSD’s current focus is on prevention.
